An online Reuters/Ipsos poll found that only 41% of Americans trust Facebook to obey laws that protect their personal information. Compared with other tech giants that collect user data, 66% who said they trust Amazon, 62% who trust Google, 60% for Microsoft, and 47% for Yahoo, which has been repeatedly been hacked.

The same poll revealed that 63% of Americans said they would like to see “less targeted advertising” in the future, while only 9% said they wanted more. When asked to compare them with traditional forms of advertising, 41% said targeted ads are “worse” while 21% described them as “better.”
